PDP chieftain Oluwole Oluyede targets 90% Ekiti vote for Tinubu in 2027, promising aggressive grassroots mobilisation across the state
Peoples Democratic Party chieftain Dr Oluwole Oluyede has set a target of securing 90 per cent of registered voters in Ekiti State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, unveiling a grassroots mobilisation plan across the state’s 16 local government areas.

Oluyede, the PDP governorship candidate in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti governorship election and convener of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, disclosed the plan in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday, September 7, 2026.
The PDP chieftain said his political structure, OPARHA, would take the campaign to the 177 wards and communities across the state as part of an ambitious effort to build support for Tinubu’s re-election.
Oluyede said the target was achievable through sustained engagement with voters rather than relying solely on party structures.
“We are going to the people. We are going to mobilise. OPARHA will take the message to every door, every household, every ward and every community,” he said.
Oluyede said he believed Tinubu deserved a second term, arguing that Nigeria needed continuity to allow ongoing reforms to mature.
“I believe President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term. Nigeria cannot continue to start all over again every four years. If we have begun a process of reform, we must allow that process to mature and consolidate,” he said.
The declaration marks a notable political position for Oluyede, who contested the Ekiti governorship election on the PDP platform only months ago.
His latest mobilisation effort is instead centred on the President’s 2027 re-election bid.
Oluyede invited members and supporters of the PDP, the All Progressives Congress and other political groups who share his vision for Ekiti and Nigeria to participate in the campaign.
He said the 90 per cent Ekiti vote for Tinubu should not be viewed simply as an electoral target but as part of a wider effort to strengthen cooperation between different political groups.
“The target is not merely about winning an election, but about building a political bridge among different groups in Ekiti and strengthening the relationship between the state and federal governments,” Oluyede said.
He also expressed willingness to work with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other political stakeholders to achieve the target.
According to Oluyede, discussions with Oyebanji after the governorship election were constructive and focused on the state’s development beyond partisan interests.
Oluyede also disclosed that he had met Tinubu after the governorship election, describing the conversation as meaningful and saying both parties agreed on the need to work towards 2027.
“For me, that was not about abandoning my political identity. It was about putting Nigeria and the interest of our people first,” he said.
The PDP chieftain’s comments come as political activity ahead of the 2027 general election begins to intensify, with politicians and parties increasingly seeking alliances beyond traditional party boundaries.
Oluyede said his two-week holiday after the Ekiti election was not a withdrawal from politics.
Instead, he described the break as an opportunity to rest after a demanding campaign and reflect on political developments.
He said his post-election consultations had also focused on bringing politicians from the PDP and APC together around issues affecting Ekiti and Nigeria.
The 90 per cent target is ambitious, particularly given the competitiveness of presidential politics in Ekiti.
Oluyede acknowledged its scale but maintained that sustained grassroots engagement could make the goal achievable.

The planned campaign will now test whether OPARHA can translate its proposed statewide mobilisation into broad voter support for Tinubu as the 2027 election approaches.
