Accord Party alleges a plot to steal sensitive election materials ahead of the Osun governorship election and calls for urgent security measures
The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has raised concerns over an alleged plan to compromise the August 15 governorship election through the theft and concealment of sensitive electoral materials.

The party called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to take immediate steps to prevent any attempt to disrupt the electoral process.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Osun State Chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, Accord said it received what it described as credible intelligence suggesting that some opposition elements were planning to interfere with election logistics.
According to the party, the alleged plot was aimed at preventing the timely distribution of sensitive materials to some polling units, a situation it warned could disenfranchise eligible voters.
“The alleged plot is aimed at preventing the timely deployment of sensitive election materials to selected polling units across the state,” the statement said.
Accord urged INEC to ensure strict monitoring of the storage, movement and distribution of election materials, stressing that transparency and accountability were necessary for a credible election.
The party also appealed to security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to investigate the alleged intelligence and act before election day.
Accord warned that any attempt to divert, hide or steal election materials would be resisted through lawful and democratic means.
“The sovereign will of the people of Osun State cannot and must not be subverted through electoral sabotage,” the party stated.
The party further urged residents to remain peaceful and vigilant while reporting suspicious activities involving election materials to relevant authorities.
