ADC Blames Tinubu after about 170 killed in Kwara State, calling government security measures ineffective and demanding urgent action
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the killing of approximately 170 people in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration for failing to secure citizens.

The statement was released in Abuja on Thursday, February 6, 2026, and signed by ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
The party described the massacre as “one of the worst atrocities recorded in recent times” and said it highlights systemic failures in government security measures.
ADC questioned the effectiveness of the state of emergency on security declared by President Tinubu in November 2025 and the promised recruitment of thousands of police officers.
Abdullahi said, “The continued mass killings suggest that these measures were either ineffective or never fully implemented.
A government that cannot protect the lives of its citizens has failed in its most fundamental responsibility.”
The ADC also highlighted that the pattern of attacks across Nigeria shows violence is merely displaced rather than curtailed, pointing to deficiencies in intelligence gathering, border control, inter-agency coordination, and emergency response.
The party called on the Federal Government to provide transparent information on the true state of security and clarify the status of the promised police recruitment.

The party urged decisive action to prevent armed groups from operating freely across states, warning that Nigerians deserve tangible protection rather than post-tragedy condolences.
