It was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Babajide Dosunmu, leader of the ADC South-West Professionals Forum, following consultations with party stakeholders, youth leaders, professionals and mobilisation groups across the zone.

Dosunmu said the decision followed wide-ranging discussions within the region and reflected a shared belief that Nigeria requires experienced and disciplined leadership to address its economic and governance challenges.

He stated that Hayatu-Deen’s profile in banking, economic management and public policy positioned him as a credible candidate capable of addressing pressing national issues, including unemployment, insecurity and declining investor confidence.

According to him, the South West has traditionally supported progressive governance and remains committed to leadership driven by competence and measurable impact.

The endorsement was further described as a response to growing concerns over what stakeholders termed “experimental leadership” and “recycled governance failures” in the country.

Dosunmu said the endorsement followed extensive engagement with professionals, youth groups and party mobilisers across the South West, all of whom expressed confidence in Hayatu-Deen’s capacity to deliver reform-oriented leadership.

“At a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive, when businesses are collapsing, and when insecurity continues to threaten national stability, Nigeria needs leadership with an understanding of how economies function,” he said.
