Atiku Abubakar wins ADC presidential primary in Imo State with 52,200 votes, defeating Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as winner of its presidential primary election in Imo State.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Chairman of the ADC National Presidential Primary Electoral Panel in Imo State, Eko Atu, following the conclusion of voting across the state.
Atu said the exercise was conducted across 305 political wards and 27 local government areas, with strong participation from party members.
According to the result, Atiku Abubakar secured 52,200 votes to emerge winner of the primary in the state.
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi came second with 7,659 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen scored 1,121 votes to place third.
The electoral panel commended the conduct of party members and leadership in the state for ensuring a peaceful and organised process.
Atu noted that the enabling environment contributed significantly to the smooth execution of the exercise.
He further described Atiku’s performance as a strong showing within the state, adding that it positions him prominently in the ongoing presidential primary process.

The ADC continues its nationwide primaries as it works towards selecting its flag bearer for the 2027 general elections.
