Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Dumebi Kachikwu reacted to recent court developments that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising congresses conducted by the David Mark-led leadership structure.
He described some of the disputed party congresses as illegitimate, referring to them as “kangaroo” arrangements, and argued that recent judicial decisions had validated concerns he previously raised about internal party control struggles.
Dumebi Kachikwu maintained that attempts to take over the party for personal or factional interests had failed, insisting that the ADC remains firmly in the hands of legitimate stakeholders.
He further stated that those he accused of attempting to hijack the party had been “shown the way out,” adding that the situation has now clarified the party’s direction ahead of the next election cycle.
The former presidential candidate reaffirmed that the ADC will participate actively in the 2027 elections, stressing that preparations for the party’s electoral participation are already underway.

His remarks come as internal tensions continue to shape the ADC’s leadership structure, with competing factions seeking legal and political advantage ahead of future polls.
