ADC Postpones Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Flag-Off

The ADC has postponed Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign flag-off in Sokoto from October 31 to November 4, 2026

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed the flag-off of its presidential campaign in Sokoto State from Saturday, October 31, to Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Director-General of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council in Sokoto State, Bello Aliyu Goronyo, announced the change in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 28.

Goronyo attributed the postponement to planning and coordination considerations, explaining that the adjustment was intended to ensure the successful conduct of the event.

The announcement comes amid allegations by the ADC that the Sokoto State Government had directed hotel operators to deny accommodation to delegates expected to attend the campaign flag-off.

The party further claimed that some delegates who had already secured accommodation were subsequently asked to leave their hotels.

However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and Goronyo did not explicitly state that the accommodation dispute was responsible for the postponement.

In his statement, the campaign council director-general apologised to party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and members of the public for any inconvenience caused by the change of date.

He also urged those planning to attend the event to take note of the new date, while thanking party members and supporters for their continued cooperation.

The campaign flag-off is expected to feature ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar alongside other party leaders as the opposition party steps up its preparations for the 2027 elections.
