ADC Slams APC over Tinubu 2027 Endorsements, Decries “Illegal Campaign Billboards”

ADC slams APC over Tinubu 2027 endorsements, citing illegal campaigns and Nigeria’s worsening economy. The party demands removal of billboards and focus on governance

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for breaching electoral laws through early endorsements of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused the ruling party of launching an unlawful campaign machinery at a time when Nigerians are battling deep economic hardship, rising insecurity, and a collapsed power sector.

“For several months, APC organs have staged rallies and erected billboards proclaiming Tinubu the ‘sole candidate’ for 2027,” the party said, referencing public endorsements in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Minna, Kano, and Akure.

The ADC said these actions violate the Electoral Act, which prohibits political campaigning until 150 days before election day.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently issued a reminder to all political actors to respect this law.

While “APC chants ‘four more years,’” the ADC stated, inflation continues to squeeze Nigerian households, with food, rent, and transport costs skyrocketing.

The naira has fallen from N461 to over N1,500 per dollar, and fuel now exceeds N1,000 per litre.

“Nigerians are not only hungry and sick, they are scared,” the ADC said. “Over 3,100 people, including 122 security personnel, died in security-related incidents between April and June this year alone.”

The party also slammed the government’s continued borrowing spree, citing World Bank data showing Nigeria now spends more on debt repayments than it earns in revenue.

Meanwhile, the national power grid has suffered multiple collapses this year, and promises of stable electricity remain unmet.

“Instead of finding real solutions,” the ADC declared, “the APC is filling the streets with billboards and deploying online propagandists while Nigerians suffer.”

The party urged the APC to dismantle its premature campaign structures, insisting that every political poster before the legal campaign window is “a billboard of illegality.”
