ADC suspends its National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr. Usani Usani, over alleged anti-party activities and violation of the party’s constitution
Abuja, Nigeria – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr. Usani Usani, for alleged actions that the party says threaten its unity and undermine its electoral prospects.

The suspension, announced on Monday, October 20, 2025, takes immediate effect and follows a resolution by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the ADC Cross River State chapter during its meeting held on October 15.
According to a statement by State Publicity Secretary, James Otudor, Usani was found to have engaged in conduct contrary to the ADC constitution, including anti-party activities, insubordination to party authorities, and actions that tarnish the party’s image.
“In accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures, Dr. Usani’s suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of a formal investigation by the relevant party organs,” Otudor stated.
The Cross River ADC also criticised the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, claiming the national leadership failed to consult the state chapter before her selection.
Otudor described Wayas as having shown “little engagement” with the state chapter since her appointment and cast doubt on her commitment to party unity in the South-South.
“The SWC urges the national leadership to review her appointment and replace her with a competent, credible, and media-savvy individual from Cross River State,” the statement read.
The party further warned individuals in the Coalition Movement, who have aligned with the ADC without completing official membership registration, to regularise their status within seven days or risk being excluded from leadership roles.
“The party will not tolerate dual membership or political opportunism. All intending members must register at their ward levels before Saturday, October 25, 2025,” the committee warned.
Despite the disciplinary actions, the Cross River ADC chapter reaffirmed its commitment to the national leadership and pledged to continue delivering credible, people-centred politics in the state and the South-South region.

“We urge all members to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast as the party’s internal mechanisms for discipline, justice, and accountability take their full course,” the statement concluded.
