ADC Unveils Okumgba as Rivers Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 election alongside governorship flag bearer Gabriel Pidomson
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named David Amapakaye Okumgba as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election, completing the party’s ticket ahead of the poll.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Rivers State Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, who described Okumgba as an experienced administrator, businessman and political leader with a strong record of public service.
According to the party, Okumgba was selected based on his political experience, organisational ability, interpersonal skills and understanding of Rivers State’s political landscape.
He will run alongside the ADC’s governorship candidate, Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson, in the 2027 election.
The party said the pairing reflects its vision of competent and inclusive leadership capable of driving good governance, economic growth, accountability and improved security across the state.
“Together, this ticket represents competence, experience, inclusiveness, and a shared vision for a new Rivers State founded on good governance, accountability, economic growth, security, and equal opportunities for all,” the statement read.
The ADC added that it believes the Pidomson-Okumgba ticket embodies the aspirations of Rivers residents and offers the leadership required to move the state forward.
The party also urged its members, supporters and the electorate to rally behind the ticket as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement comes as political parties continue to strengthen their structures and unveil candidates in anticipation of what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race in Rivers State.
