“Governor Agbu Kefas considers APC move to boost state’s federal ties

Agbu Kefas may join APC, aiming to boost Taraba’s federal support and development projects with strategic political realignment

Agbu Kefas may soon join the All Progressives Congress, signalling a transformative political shift for Taraba State. The governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Josiah Kente, confirmed the potential move, emphasising it serves the collective interests of Tarabans rather than personal ambition.

Kente highlighted that Kefas’ alignment with the ruling party could open new avenues for federal development projects, including roads, hospitals, and power infrastructure. “It is only fitting that such visionary leadership is supported by an enabling political environment at the national level,” Kente stated.

Since taking office in 2023 on the Peoples Democratic Party platform, Kefas has pursued his Moving Forward agenda, achieving milestones in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Political observers note that his possible defection would end PDP’s 26-year dominance in the state, marking a historic realignment.

Stakeholders, youth groups, and opinion leaders have been urged to rally behind Kefas’ strategic decision, which is framed as a move to ensure sustainable progress and stronger federal collaboration for Taraba.

Analysts predict that if the defection materialises, it could further consolidate APC’s influence across the region and reshape the state’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
