Aisha Yesufu ADC supporters claim says the opposition party has over 200 million Nigerians behind it despite APC’s control of about 30 governors
Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has claimed that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) enjoys the support of more than 200 million Nigerians despite the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) controlling about 30 state governors.

Yesufu made the assertion on Thursday while speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, where the activist discussed the growing political rivalry ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The prominent social commentator acknowledged that the governing party holds a financial advantage over the opposition but insisted that public support remains firmly behind the ADC.
“The ADC is not mincing words that when it comes to money, the APC can outspend the ADC; definitely they can outspend us because they have our coffers, our national wealth, at their disposal to do whatever it is that they’re going to do with it,” Yesufu said.
Despite that advantage, Yesufu argued that political enthusiasm and citizen backing would ultimately shape the outcome of future elections.
“The one thing that I can tell you is they cannot outpassion us,” the activist added.
Yesufu also contrasted the APC’s control of state governments with what she described as widespread public support for the ADC.
“They have 30 governors, but we have over 200 and something million Nigerians, minus the 30 governors and a few of the supporters that they have,” Yesufu said.

The remarks come amid intensifying political debate over the balance of power between the ruling party and opposition groups as preparations gradually begin for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential contest.
