ADC Youths Launch #AmupitanMustGo Protests

ADC youths are set to stage #AmupitanMustGo protests at INEC offices in Lagos, Ogun and Jigawa today under Operation Occupy INEC. The campaign demands the removal of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan

Youth members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are set to stage coordinated protests at offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos, Ogun and Jigawa states on Monday, April 20, 2026.

The protests form part of the ongoing #AmupitanMustGo campaign, which is demanding the immediate removal of INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan.

ADC National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufai, announced the action in a post on X on Monday.

He shared flyers for the demonstrations in Lagos and Ogun states, both codenamed “Operation Occupy INEC.”

According to Rufai, the Lagos protest will commence at Yaba College of Technology, while the Ogun protest is scheduled to hold at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) office in Abeokuta.

Details of the exact venue and time for the Jigawa protest were not immediately specified in the announcement.

The planned actions come a few weeks after a similar “Occupy INEC” protest was held in Abuja on April 8, 2026.

Prominent opposition figures who participated in the Abuja demonstration included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola and Dino Melaye.

ADC youths have consistently accused the INEC chairman of alleged compromise and partisan handling of the party’s internal leadership crisis, particularly calling for the restoration of the Senator David Mark-led national executive.
