APC in Onna adopts Governor Umo Eno as sole governorship candidate for 2026 elections alongside other consensus candidates
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has adopted Governor Umo Eno as its sole governorship candidate for the 2026 general elections ahead of the party primaries.

The decision was reached during a key stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday, where party members also endorsed consensus candidates for other elective positions within the constituency.
According to the resolutions, Nelson Ntia was selected as the House of Assembly candidate, Senator Ekong Sampson for the Senate, and Dr. Eunice Thomas for the House of Representatives.
The APC adopts Umo Eno governorship candidate decision was announced in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ekerete Udoh.
The meeting took place at the residence of the APC political leader in Onna, Dr. Pat Ifon, and was attended by key party stakeholders across the local government area.
During the meeting, Onna APC Chairman, Tom Nkanang, urged members to remain united and committed to securing victory in the upcoming elections.
He called for reconciliation among party members, urging those with grievances to set aside differences and work collectively for electoral success.
Dr. Pat Ifon, who presided over the gathering, said the meeting was convened to communicate leadership decisions and strengthen unity ahead of both the primaries and general elections.
He explained that Governor Eno had carried out extensive consultations within the party structure and emphasised the need for cohesion to ensure a decisive electoral outcome.
The meeting also reportedly endorsed President Bola Tinubu alongside Governor Umo Eno and other consensus candidates for various positions.
Some stakeholders expressed strong support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging prayers and unity ahead of the polls.
Several party members who had initially supported alternative candidates later aligned with the consensus arrangement, citing the need for party discipline and unity.

Other stakeholders present commended the leadership style that produced the agreement, describing it as inclusive and stabilising for the party in the area.
