Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti, Bamidele stressed the importance of unity within the ruling party, noting that any form of internal dissatisfaction could create openings for opposition groups such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to recruit aggrieved members.
The APC Ekiti disloyalty warning came as the Senate Leader urged party faithful to remain committed and disciplined, insisting that opposition parties are actively watching for signs of division within the ruling structure.
Bamidele explained that political stability within the APC must be protected, adding that opposition parties would only benefit if members allowed internal grievances to escalate into fragmentation.
He also addressed the party’s upcoming primaries, clarifying that all aspirants would participate in either direct or consensus-based selection processes in line with Nigeria’s electoral laws.
According to him, even candidates emerging through consensus would still need formal affirmation through party procedures, ensuring transparency and participation across all wards.
The Senate Leader further advised aspirants who may not succeed in the primaries to remain loyal to the party, stressing that electoral setbacks should not be interpreted as personal defeat but as part of political timing and dynamics.
Ekiti State APC Chairman, Sola Eleshin, also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal unity, describing Ekiti Central as a stronghold of political stability and urging members to maintain peace ahead of future elections.
He added that the party remains focused on consolidating support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji and encouraged members to strengthen grassroots mobilisation efforts.
