APC Governorship Candidates submit nomination details to INEC as the party works to resolve internal disputes ahead of the 2027 elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted nomination details for 13 governorship candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 elections, while beginning efforts to settle internal disagreements arising from candidate selections.

The party confirmed the development on Wednesday, 23 July 2026, as it works to complete the nomination process before the August 8 deadline.
The APC Governorship Candidates submissions are part of the party’s preparations for the next general elections, with officials expressing confidence that details of all 28 governorship candidates and their running mates will be uploaded before INEC closes its nomination portal.
A senior APC official said documents for five additional candidates were already being processed by the party’s information technology department.
“Our ICT team has already scanned and prepared the documents for immediate upload once the issues are resolved,” the official said.
The party has, however, faced delays in uploading the details of its state House of Assembly candidates due to technical difficulties with INEC’s nomination platform.
Among the governorship candidates whose details have reportedly been processed are Obafemi Hamzat of Lagos State, Solomon Adeola of Ogun State, Umar Bago of Niger State, Ahmed Wadada of Nasarawa State and Yakubu Danladi of Kwara State.
Others include Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Ahmed Galadima of Adamawa State and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State.
Beyond the nomination process, APC leadership has started reconciliation efforts aimed at addressing dissatisfaction among party members following the emergence of some candidates.
APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, said the party’s reconciliation committee was working to resolve disagreements and restore unity among affected members.
“As for the disaffection that the emergence of some of these candidates may have caused, the reconciliation committee is working,” Ibrahim said.
“We are hoping that, at the end of the day, all grievances will be resolved. All the aggrieved parties will come together and forge ahead.”
Ibrahim also urged party candidates to remain committed to APC policies and align their campaigns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
INEC opened its online nomination portal for governorship and state House of Assembly candidates on 18 July 2026, with submissions scheduled to close at 6pm on 8 August.
The electoral body is expected to publish candidates’ personal details on 29 August, while the deadline for withdrawal or substitution of candidates is set for 19 September.

With nomination activities underway, APC’s focus now extends beyond completing its electoral paperwork to managing internal party dynamics as it prepares for a highly competitive 2027 election cycle.
