APC targets 1.5 million new members in Enugu

The party’s Caretaker Chairman in the state, Dr Ben Nwoye, disclosed this on Thursday in Enugu during the flag-off of training for APC e-registration Local Government Supervisors.

Nwoye said the e-registration initiative would enable the party to admit new members and significantly expand its membership base across the state.

He described the commencement of online registration as a demonstration of Enugu’s resolve to lead in party organisation and structure.

“The training is the first mark of how the party will henceforth be organised,” Nwoye said.

“It is no longer a time when people run away with party registers or refuse to issue membership cards. Gone are the days when one’s membership status was in doubt.”

He said the APC was positioning Enugu as a “smart state with a smart political party,” adding that the process would strengthen internal democracy and accountability.

Nwoye expressed optimism that the exercise would help consolidate President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and align with Governor Peter Mbah’s development vision for the state.

“This will enable the governor to continue delivering good governance and make Enugu one of the best states in Nigeria,” he said.

Also speaking, the APC e-registration Chairman in Enugu State, Chief Flavour Eze, said the online registration was designed to eliminate fictitious membership.

Eze disclosed that prospective members would be registered using their National Identification Number (NIN) and voter cards, noting that the entire process would be conducted online.

He added that the registration would be carried out at the ward level, with ward supervisors to undergo training to ensure a smooth and credible exercise.

Eze commended Governor Mbah’s leadership style, saying it had transformed the state and improved its attractiveness to investors.

He described members appointed to the registration committee as competent and well-qualified, urging residents to continue supporting the government to enable it implement policies and programmes that improve their living standards.
