APC blasts opposition over 2027 mandate dispute

APC opposition 2027 mandate dispute intensifies as Lagos APC urges rivals to stop contesting results and focus on preparing for 2031 elections

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria, on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, in Lagos, issued a strong political message urging opposition parties to abandon what it described as disputes over the 2027 electoral mandates and instead focus on rebuilding their structures ahead of future elections.

The statement was issued by APC spokesman Seye Oladejo, who addressed growing political tension and public commentary from opposition figures across the country, insisting that attention should shift towards long-term political planning rather than contesting settled electoral outcomes.

The party argued that while opposition voices remain essential to democratic governance, their participation must be guided by realism and responsibility, stressing that election results should be respected as expressions of the people’s will.

According to the APC, internal weaknesses and poor coordination within opposition parties have become increasingly visible, particularly in the build-up to party primaries, which it described as evidence of organisational disunity.

In a pointed remark, the APC opposition 2027 mandate dispute statement urged rival parties to focus on rebuilding, re-strategising, and preparing for the 2031 general elections rather than engaging in what it termed unproductive political arguments.

The ruling party further maintained that its administration remains committed to delivering governance priorities, including infrastructure development, economic expansion, security improvement, and social welfare programmes across Lagos State and beyond.

It added that opposition actors should channel their energy into constructive engagement and internal reforms that would strengthen Nigeria’s democratic space ahead of future electoral cycles.
