APGA Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election

APGA endorses Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, saying the decision followed consultations and a resolution by the party’s leadership

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, according to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara.

Opara disclosed on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, that the party’s decision followed extensive consultations among its leadership and members, adding that the move was approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

The party spokesman explained that the absence of a presidential candidate’s name from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal should not be viewed as a failure to meet electoral requirements.

He said APGA deliberately chose not to submit a presidential candidate because its leadership had resolved to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term.

“We have not uploaded a presidential candidate because the National Executive Committee of the party has already taken a decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” Opara said.

According to him, the decision was made in what the party considers the broader interest of Nigeria, following internal discussions and assessments.

Opara maintained that APGA remains an active participant in the electoral process despite its decision not to contest the presidential race.

He added that the party had completed the nomination process for other elective positions, including candidates for the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The endorsement adds APGA to the growing list of political groups positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, as parties and alliances begin shaping their strategies for the next electoral cycle.
