Atiku Condemns Adamawa Killings, Urges Stronger Security

The attacks took place in markets located in Madagali and Hong local government areas, where gunmen opened fire on traders and shoppers.

Atiku described the incidents as deeply tragic and a stark reminder of the worsening insecurity in the North-East.

“I am deeply moved by the tragic attacks in Adamawa State, where gunmen killed over 20 people in a market in Madagali and Hong local government areas,” Atiku wrote on 𝕏 on Friday.

“I urge the authorities to redouble their efforts to address this menace, ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, and strengthen security to prevent future attacks.”

Atiku also reflected on his role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress in 2014, expressing regret over the country’s trajectory under the current administration

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, he said the country’s present challenges in insecurity and economic instability surpass those that motivated the creation of the APC.

“We did this exercise in 2014, not so? We came together and formed APC because we felt democracy was faltering, only for us to end up at the same position we found ourselves in 2014, worse,” Atiku said.

The former vice president urged opposition leaders to remain resolute in the pursuit of democratic reforms, warning that any new coalition must focus on safeguarding democratic values.
