Atiku Abubakar votes in ADC presidential primary in Adamawa, describing the process as democracy in action and key to Nigeria’s recovery
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday, May 25, 2026, voted in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primary election at Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, describing the exercise as a demonstration of democratic progress within the party.

Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria and leading figure in the ADC presidential race, participated in the voting process alongside other party members as the party conducted its presidential primary across wards nationwide.
The exercise formed part of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, internal election process aimed at selecting its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement shared via his official X account, Atiku Abubakar said the process reflected democracy in action and highlighted the party’s commitment to rebuilding Nigeria through structured political engagement.
“I joined other prospective voters of the African Democratic Congress in our party’s presidential primaries in casting my vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State. This is democracy at work,” he said.
He further noted that the nationwide exercise, conducted simultaneously across thousands of wards, represented a significant step in the party’s effort to reposition the country.
“The election taking place simultaneously in 8,809 wards in Nigeria is a major step in our quest to recover our beloved country and set it on the path of prosperity,” he added.

The ADC presidential primary continues to attract national attention as aspirants, delegates and party stakeholders await the final outcome of the contest that will determine the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 elections.
