Tinubu fears opposition coalition 2027 as Atiku’s aide Paul Ibe says the administration is panicking over plans to unite opposition forces ahead of the next general election
Paul Ibe, spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of being “scared” of an emerging opposition coalition aimed at unseating the government in 2027.

Ibe’s comment was a direct response to remarks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who recently dismissed the viability of a coalition involving Atiku and other opposition leaders, calling it bound to fail.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Ibe insisted that Wike’s reaction — and the wider negative narrative from the ruling camp — reflect a growing fear within the Tinubu administration.
“They’re already scared,” Ibe said. “Otherwise, why has it become a talking point? Whether the coalition succeeds or not is not their business. The focus should be on governance, not fear-mongering.”
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and committed to voting out the ruling party in the next general elections.
“Nigerians should keep their eyes on the ball. Better days are coming, but we must work for them. That work starts with showing this administration the exit door in 2027,” Ibe added.
When asked to assess Tinubu’s performance in office, the Atiku aide gave a damning verdict: “It’s a total failure.”
He criticised the government for allegedly prioritising election strategy over effective governance.

“It’s all about 2027. Focus on the job. Focus on making life meaningful for Nigerians, on making food affordable, and ensuring the security of lives and property — which is the primary responsibility of any government,” Ibe said.
