Atiku Abubakar expresses sympathy with Anthony Joshua after a fatal Ogun road accident that claimed two lives and left the boxer injured
Former Vice President of Nigeria and Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed sympathy with British Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua following a fatal road accident in Ogun State.

The accident occurred on Monday in Makun, near Sagamu, Ogun State, and claimed the lives of two occupants of a vehicle in Joshua’s convoy.
Atiku Abubakar conveyed his message in a post on his verified X handle on Monday, describing the incident as deeply saddening.
He expressed solidarity with Anthony Joshua and prayed for his swift recovery.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua today in Makun, Ogun State. I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery,” Atiku wrote.
He described Joshua as a symbol of strength and resilience, expressing confidence that the boxer would recover with grace.
Atiku Abubakar also extended condolences to the families of the two individuals who died in the crash. He prayed for comfort and strength for their loved ones.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the accident. May their souls rest in peace,” he added.
PUNCH Online earlier reported that the accident occurred shortly after 11am near Danco Filling Station, before the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan bound section of the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
An eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, said a Lexus SUV conveying Anthony Joshua rammed into a stationary truck.
He added that the boxer sustained minor injuries, while two passengers died on the spot.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps later arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations and traffic control.
