The Governor spoke during a statewide broadcast on 3 February 2026, marking the Golden Jubilee of the state from which Gombe State was later carved out in 1996.
Governor Mohammed said the anniversary is a defining moment to reflect on Bauchi’s journey, honour the sacrifices of its founding fathers, and renew commitment to the state’s future.
He paid tribute to the late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, who announced the creation of Bauchi State alongside six others, noting the general did not live to witness the states’ development due to his assassination ten days later.
Highlighting the state’s progress, Bala Mohammed acknowledged the contributions of military and civilian leaders, including Colonel Muhammad Bello Kaliel, Alhaji Abubakar Tatari Ali, Major Generals Garba Duba, Muhammad Sani Sami, and Chris Abutu Garuba, among others.
He said their collective efforts ensured the growth, stability, and continuity of Bauchi State.
“Since its creation, Bauchi State has recorded notable achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply, and security,” he stated, citing schools, universities, hospitals, road networks, and agricultural investments as examples of sustained development.
He also emphasised collaboration with security agencies, which has underpinned peace and stability across the state.
Looking forward, the Governor outlined a bold vision for Bauchi State by 2033, aiming to become the leading economy in the North-East and one of the top 10 most developed states nationwide.
He said the plan focuses on 12 clusters, including agriculture, education, health, security, infrastructure, ICT, tourism, housing, private sector growth, regional collaboration, environment, and general administration.
In line with the Golden Jubilee theme, “Honouring the Past, Building the Future,” the state has scheduled activities such as special prayers, a commemorative tree planting at the Golden Jubilee Unity Park, public lectures, panel discussions, a mini-durbar with cultural displays, and a gala night with awards presentation.
Governor Mohammed called on citizens to emulate the dedication and sacrifice of the state’s founders, stressing that the continued progress of Bauchi State depends on strong leadership and responsible citizen engagement.
