Benjamin Kalu Vows APC Will Retake Abia in 2027

Benjamin Kalu Abia APC takeover vow gains momentum as he promises to unseat Labour Party in 2027 and criticises Governor Otti’s handling of state funds

Benjamin Kalu Abia APC takeover ambition has taken centre stage as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim Abia State from the Labour Party in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Sunday during a gathering of more than 27 support groups—including the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Ben Kalu Movement—Kalu made it clear that the APC is preparing to unseat Governor Alex Otti.

“We have come to take over and there is no going back,” Kalu announced. “We want to work with the President to move our state forward.

It is about the love we have for our President. We are all gathering momentum for what will come in 2027.”

In a strongly-worded speech, he praised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as *“the miracle worker”* who is transparent with federal funds.

“He stopped oil subsidy and did not pocket the money, but released it to the states. That is the mark of a true leader,” he said.

The Benjamin Kalu Abia APC takeover message came with sharp criticism for the current Labour Party-led administration.

Kalu accused Governor Otti of failing to justify the substantial federal allocations now reaching the state.

“You cannot be getting N38bn to N40bn from Abuja and be delivering results that previous governors achieved with just N4bn or N5bn,” Kalu stated.

“The APC will take over this state—not by force, but with the vote of the masses.”

He also condemned the relocation of the Government House from Umuahia to a village, saying it negatively impacts local businesses.

Kalu pledged that the APC would reverse the decision and restore Umuahia’s status as the administrative capital.

He further disclosed that President Tinubu has promised to build a seaport in Abia—a development Kalu says would transform the state’s economy.

He encouraged citizens to obtain their voters’ cards and party membership ahead of the election.

Backing him, the Director-General of the Ben Kalu Foundation, Rev. Trump Eke, along with political figures such as Charles Ogbonna, Emeka Stanley, and Don Ubani, threw their weight behind Kalu’s vision and potential candidacy.
