Dele Momodu APC ballot plot claim alleges ruling party manoeuvring to favour President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election
Nigerian media entrepreneur and African Democratic Congress chieftain Dele Momodu has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of attempting to engineer a political arrangement that would leave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the only candidate on the ballot in the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, arguing that the governing party was deploying political manoeuvres aimed at weakening opposition groups ahead of the next general election.
The publisher of Ovation International said the dominance of the APC across state governments does not guarantee electoral success, insisting that the opposition remains confident about its prospects.
“The APC is trying to make sure that President Tinubu is the only candidate on the ballot,” Momodu said during the broadcast. “They are manoeuvring, but Nigerians are wiser than them. We are not worried or panicking in the ADC.”
The outspoken political figure also criticised the conduct of recent council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, describing the situation as troubling.
Momodu pointed to reports of a curfew during the poll and the visible role played by the territory’s minister in overseeing activities around polling stations.
Momodu argued that such developments raise broader concerns about the credibility of electoral processes as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 race.
Despite the allegations, Momodu maintained that opposition parties remain undeterred, insisting that the political landscape could shift dramatically before the next national vote.
