Egbedore APC chairman presents N6.2bn 2026 budget prioritising infrastructure, healthcare, education, and sustainable development
Honourable Hissa Akinwale, Chairman of Egbedore Local Government Area under the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, 22 December 2025, presented the council’s proposed 2026 budget, totalling N6,200,500,000, to the local government legislature.

The budget presentation follows earlier submissions by local government chairmen elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the Osun State House of Assembly.
Other APC-led councils, including Ifelodun Local Government Area, are scheduled to present their budgets later this week.
Speaking on the matter, Alhaji Gbadebo Ajao, APC Chairman in Ede Federal Constituency, explained that local government budgets are now directly presented to councillors following the Supreme Court ruling granting financial autonomy to all local governments.
“With financial autonomy, local government chairmen only report to their councils. The first set of people to receive the budget must be the legislature at the local government level,” he said.
“The Supreme Court judgment clears everything. The state has no business intervening in local budgets.”
Christening the budget “Budget for Sustainable Development”, Chairman Akinwale highlighted key priorities including infrastructural development, portable water, primary healthcare, and educational support.
He assured that budget discipline would underpin his administration’s management of council resources.
Following the presentation, Honourable Tokunbo Bello, Leader of the Council House, pledged to accelerate the review process and promised that the legislative arm would collaborate closely with the local government executives to ensure the successful implementation of the proposed budget.

Observers note that this move underscores the continued implementation of financial autonomy at the local government level and strengthens local governance capacity in Egbedore and beyond.
