Federal Government cancels the 65th Independence parade but assures Nigerians that other events will continue, urging support for President Tinubu’s reforms
The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the Independence Anniversary parade originally scheduled for Wednesday, 1 October, marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, disclosed the cancellation in a statement issued on Monday night in Abuja.
He assured that the cancellation does not diminish the importance of this milestone, emphasising that the government remains committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm.
All other planned programmes for the Independence Anniversary will proceed as scheduled.
“The Government deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by this cancellation,” Imohiosen stated.
He also expressed gratitude to Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests for their understanding, support, and cooperation.

The Federal Government urged all citizens to continue backing the reforms of President Bola Tinubu aimed at building a greater Nigeria.
