The gesture aims to support agriculture and improve food production across the region.

The distribution exercise was launched on Monday in Sule Tankarkar and covered all 12 local government areas in the senatorial district.

According to the senator, each council area will receive one full truckload of fertiliser.

He said the fertiliser would be distributed free of charge to small and large scale farmers, farmer groups and political supporters.

“This is part of our commitment to improving agriculture and food security in our zone. By providing fertiliser at no cost, we are reducing the burden on farmers and helping them focus on their crops,” Husseini said at the event.

He explained that the programme is aligned with the agricultural agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and carried out under the supervision of the North West Development Commission.

Farmers at the event welcomed the gesture. Muhammadu Sani from Gumel said the donation came at a crucial time when the cost of fertiliser was beyond the reach of many rural farmers.

“We are grateful for this support. It will really help us improve our harvest,” he said.

Abdullahi Muttaka from Kazaure also expressed his appreciation, calling the initiative a big relief for farmers.
