Igbo Community Rejects Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid

Igbo Community rejects Tinubu’s 2027 bid, calling the South East APC endorsement a sham by Governor Uzodimma

The Igbo community in Abuja has rejected President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, denouncing the endorsement by South East APC stakeholders as “fake” and a political stunt. Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, President of the Igbo Community Association in the Federal Capital Territory, made the statement on Sunday.

Ellis-Ezenekwe said the community feels marginalised and excluded from Nigeria’s political and economic mainstream, claiming that Tinubu’s administration has continued this trend.

“Tinubu has been bad to the Igbo community, and we will not vote for him,” he asserted.

The endorsement was reportedly orchestrated by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who called on South East APC stakeholders to support Tinubu’s re-election, citing the region’s need to reposition itself politically.

The Igbo community, however, described this move as a “sham” aimed at boosting Uzodimma’s personal political profile.

“APC is not popular in Igboland,” Ellis-Ezenekwe said.

“It’s only Uzodimma and a few others who are trying to force it down our throats.”

He criticised claims that Tinubu’s reforms are yielding results, arguing that insecurity, economic challenges, and hardship for children suggest otherwise.

The Igbo community called on APC and Tinubu’s administration to be accountable and address the country’s pressing issues.

“We want to see action, not just words. If Tinubu can’t deliver, he should step aside and let someone else try,” Ellis-Ezenekwe added.

Vowing to mobilise against Tinubu’s re-election, the association said the campaign extends beyond Igbo interests, framing it as a fight for Nigeria’s future.

“We will not sit back and watch our country be destroyed,” the statement concluded.
