The INEC bye-elections June 2026 schedule was disclosed by the Commission’s Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), during a ceremony at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, where he also formally welcomed a newly sworn-in National Commissioner, Rear Admiral Jamila Malafa (rtd.).

According to the Commission, the elections will fill vacant legislative seats in Enugu, Nasarawa, Rivers, Ondo, Kebbi, and Kano States.

The exercise will include senatorial by-elections in Enugu, Nasarawa, Rivers, and Ondo States, a State House of Assembly seat in Kebbi State, and a House of Representatives seat in Kano State.

He reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to credible and transparent elections across all levels, stressing that the Commission remains focused on its constitutional mandate.

In addition to the electoral announcement, the INEC Chairman introduced Rear Admiral Jamila Malafa (rtd.) as a seasoned professional with extensive experience in military service and electoral logistics, noting her previous contributions to the Commission’s operations.
