The by-elections will be held in Kano Municipal and Ungogo local government areas.
The parties involved include the APC, ADP, AAC, PRP, Dennis Labour Party, APGA, Good Party, Action Alliance (AA), Labour Party (LP), and NNPP.
Zango explained that while nominations were submitted at the state level, candidates’ details are being uploaded by party national headquarters via INEC’s online portal.
“As of the deadline, we have received nominations from 10 political parties. The uploading process is still ongoing, and the final number of candidates will only be confirmed by INEC headquarters once the process is completed,” he said.
The REC confirmed that INEC deployed monitors from its national headquarters to observe party primaries in the affected areas and reported no issues.
On internal disputes, particularly within the NNPP, Zango said the commission had not received any court order or official notice affecting party leadership or primaries.
Preparations for the by-elections are at an advanced stage, with over 535,000 registered voters and more than 1,000 polling units across the two constituencies.
