Kano permanent secretaries appointments see 19 new officials named and 14 redeployed to improve governance and public service delivery
Abba Kabir Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, has approved the appointment of 19 new permanent secretaries and the redeployment of 14 serving senior officials across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as part of a major civil service restructuring exercise.

The changes were announced on Tuesday by Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu-Maimota, Head of the Kano State Civil Service, through a statement issued by Rukayya Uba-Sulaiman, Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
The latest Kano permanent secretaries appointments are aimed at strengthening administrative capacity, improving coordination within government institutions and supporting the implementation of the state’s development programmes.
According to the statement, the appointments place greater responsibility on the affected officials, who are expected to work closely with leadership of their respective MDAs to enhance service delivery.
“The appointment is a call to greater responsibility and selfless service to people of the state,” the statement said.
The Head of Service urged the newly appointed and redeployed permanent secretaries to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, accountability and commitment to public service.
Shehu-Maimota expressed confidence that the officials would uphold the values of excellence, transparency and innovation within the Kano State Civil Service.
The government stated that the changes take immediate effect, with all affected officials required to complete handing-over and taking-over procedures on or before 12 August 2026.
The reshuffle comes as state governments continue to review civil service structures to improve efficiency and ensure that experienced officials are positioned to support key policy programmes.

The Kano administration said the latest appointments and redeployments are expected to contribute to stronger governance and improved delivery of public services across the state.
