In a statement released by Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, Head of the Fayemi Media Office, the claim that Fayemi and Amaechi started coalition talks before expanding to others has no credible evidence.
The statement urged the public to treat such social media-driven news with caution, emphasizing that no reputable source has confirmed Amaechi’s supposed remarks.
Sajoh clarified that Dr. Fayemi remains a committed member and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State.
He highlighted Fayemi’s consistent public support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid, affirming his loyalty to the party.
The statement also noted that while Fayemi engages in broad political discussions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, these conversations do not imply any defection from the APC.
If Fayemi were to leave the party, he would make such a move public rather than through third-party claims.
Sajoh addressed speculation around Fayemi’s party affiliation, attributing it to his limited public visibility due to his academic role as a visiting professor at King’s College London and his work with the Amandla Institute.
However, at the local level, Fayemi remains actively involved in APC leadership activities in Ekiti.
