Kwankwaso joins ADC as the party celebrates his defection, describing it as a major boost to its coalition and national political outlook
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially confirmed the defection of former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing his entry into the party as a significant development in its ongoing political expansion.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC welcomed Kwankwaso’s move, stating that it reflects a growing national sentiment for leadership focused on addressing everyday challenges and driving sustainable development across the country.
Kwankwaso joins ADC comes amid a wave of political realignments ahead of future elections, with the party expressing confidence that the former governor’s experience in governance, strong grassroots network, and reputation for unity will strengthen its internal structure and broaden its national appeal.
The party also disclosed that Kwankwaso has encouraged members of his political movement and supporters nationwide to align with the ADC, a move expected to further expand the party’s coalition base.

The defection ceremony was attended by several prominent political figures, including ADC National Chairman David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee.
Also present were notable political actors such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister Rotimi Amaechi, highlighting the significance of the event within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
