Former presidential aide to late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has claimed that a prominent chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has never successfully delivered Kano State to any presidential candidate.

Ahmad made the statement on X while reacting to comments credited to the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
He described the observation as a “stubborn political fact,” insisting that electoral history in Kano does not support claims of strong bloc influence by the politician in question.
Kwankwaso Kano political influence claim formed the basis of Ahmad’s argument, as he challenged assumptions around voting strength in the state.
According to him, although he is not aligned with either Peter Obi or Rabiu Kwankwaso, political realities should be stated without sentiment.
“Let me remind the concerned individuals of this stubborn political fact, history clearly shows that Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has never successfully delivered Kano State to any presidential candidate,” he wrote.
Ahmad further questioned the political weight of smaller parties, arguing that major opposition figures remain more influential in national elections.

The comment adds another layer to ongoing debates over shifting political alliances and electoral influence ahead of future contests in Nigeria.
