Maxwell Opara urges Kwankwaso to form alliance and deputize Peter Obi in 2027 presidential race to strengthen opposition against Tinubu
Activist lawyer Maxwell Opara has called on former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to consider forming a political alliance with Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The proposal comes as discussions around opposition realignments continue to gain traction ahead of the next general election cycle.

Opara specifically urged Kwankwaso to drop personal ambitions and accept a vice-presidential role under Peter Obi, arguing that such an arrangement would strengthen the opposition’s chances in 2027.
He described Obi as a capable leader who demonstrated strong electoral performance in the last general election despite starting from a relatively new political platform.
According to Opara, a Peter Obi–Kwankwaso ticket could present a more competitive challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.
He also argued that political collaboration between major opposition figures is necessary to counter what he described as the dominance of the ruling party.
The activist further suggested that regional balancing would make the alliance more viable, insisting that Obi has broader national acceptance.
