Kwankwaso’s APC Alliance Dismissed as Extremely Difficult

Kwankwaso’s APC alliance ruled out by Galadima, who says joining Tinubu in 2027 would be extremely difficult due to political antagonism in Kano

Kwankwaso’s APC alliance appears highly unlikely ahead of the 2027 elections, according to Buba Galadima, a key figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and close confidant of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Galadima stated emphatically that a partnership between Kwankwaso and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) would be “extremely difficult,” citing deep political tensions, especially in Kano State.

“Kwankwaso has never told me that he plans to support Tinubu in 2027,” Galadima said.

“After everything they’ve done to us in Kano? That would be very hard.”

Galadima accused the APC-led federal government of undermining Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s authority by allegedly backing the reinstated Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, despite his official removal.

He described the situation as unprecedented, with “two emirs in one city,” and questioned how the federal government could support an emir without constitutional authority.

He continued:

“There is now a federal emir and a state emir. Who has the right to appoint an emir and pay his salary?”

Galadima claimed the APC’s motive is political, using Bayero’s reinstatement as a strategic foothold for the 2027 general elections.

He alleged that over 40 police vehicles are permanently stationed to protect the reinstated emir, suggesting federal interference in a strictly state affair.

When pressed on whether backdoor negotiations between Kwankwaso and Tinubu could be underway, Galadima dismissed it outright:

“If anyone had reached out to him, I would know. I may not be the closest to him, but we speak often. He’s never told me anything like that.”

Despite the speculation swirling around Kwankwaso’s next political move, Galadima reaffirmed the former governor’s independence and grassroots appeal.

“The people of Kano follow Kwankwaso because they see his impact. No emir can influence votes here.”

Regarding NNPP’s direction for 2027, Galadima was tight-lipped but confident, declaring:

“Wherever you find us, that is where the government will be formed.”

His remarks send a strong signal that reconciliation between the NNPP and APC, especially involving Kwankwaso and Tinubu, may remain out of reach.
