Kwara NDC governorship candidate Abdulmumin Ajia flags off 2027 campaign in Ilorin and unveils Forward Kwara Agenda prioritising security, jobs and infrastructure
The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Kwara State, Abdulmumin Ajia, formally launched his campaign for the 2027 election in Ilorin on Thursday 10 September 2026.

Ajia used the occasion to present his Forward Kwara Agenda, describing it as an integrated development plan that would prioritise security, education, healthcare, job creation and infrastructure if he is elected.
He contrasted his approach with that of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, which he characterised as representatives of old politics marked by scattered projects and political convenience rather than coordinated strategy.
“The APC and PDP represent the old approach of scattered projects, political convenience and programmes that do not work together,” Ajia said.
The candidate pledged that an NDC administration would link security, education, healthcare, transportation, agriculture, employment and local development into a coherent framework.
He promised to strengthen public schools and health facilities, expand affordable health insurance, improve roads and public transport, and support traders, artisans, farmers and small businesses.
Ajia also committed to connecting education and skills training with employment opportunities, boosting agricultural production and processing, and establishing a clear process for addressing outstanding pensioners’ gratuities.
He undertook to publish major commitments, timelines and the institutions responsible for delivery so that residents could monitor progress. “We will publish our commitments. We will report our progress. We will explain delays. And we will accept responsibility for our performance,” he stated.
Ajia stressed that his campaign would centre on issues rather than personal attacks and that he sought office to serve rather than to enrich himself. “I will never be party to anything or anyone that will corrupt the system,” he said.
He urged voters to hold elected officials accountable and not to allow party loyalty to override the interests of the state. “Do not give us four years of silence. Do not defend us when we are wrong simply because you voted for us,” Ajia added.
As part of the launch activities the candidate toured sections of Ilorin, engaged with residents and traders, and paid courtesy visits to traditional leaders including the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin and the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, to seek their support.
He also visited the scene of an accident on Taiwo Road, offered sympathy to the victims and collected their contact details with a promise of assistance.
At the flag-off event Ajia introduced a retired educationist, Elder Ajayi Israel Awolowo, as his running mate and presented the party’s candidates for the National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections.
He called on residents of Kwara to support NDC candidates across the governorship, National Assembly and state Assembly contests, arguing that a coherent mandate would enable the party to deliver its development plans.

“We are not asking for a blank cheque. We are asking for the opportunity to serve and accepting the obligation to account for that service,” he said.
