Labour Party Sees Surge in Nomination Form Purchases Ahead of 2027 Elections

Labour Party records surge in nomination form purchases as aspirants troop to its secretariat ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections

The Labour Party (LP) has recorded a significant surge in the purchase of nomination and expression of interest forms as aspirants intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

LP spokesperson, Ken Eluma Asogwa, confirmed in a statement on Thursday that several political hopefuls visited the party’s National Secretariat to obtain forms for various elective positions.

According to him, the growing number of aspirants reflects increasing confidence in the party’s structure and electoral prospects ahead of the next general election cycle.

Among those who purchased forms is Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, former First Lady of Ondo State, who is seeking the Senate seat for Imo East Senatorial District.

Others include Hassan Mamman Barguwa, a former House of Representatives member, who is contesting for the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency seat in Adamawa State.

Also listed are Dennis Chibuzor Oshai, who is vying for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in Delta State, Eric Edward, contesting for the Hong State Constituency seat in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, and Mohammed Hayatu Atiku, who is seeking a seat in the Uba/Gaya State Constituency of Adamawa State.

Speaking after obtaining his forms, Barguwa commended the party’s process, describing it as smooth, transparent, and well-organised.

He expressed optimism about the Labour Party’s prospects, stating that the party is gaining strength in Adamawa State and across the North East region.

He also assured supporters that the party remains committed to building momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

As of the time of filing this report, more aspirants were still seen at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms.
