Lagos APC says Nigeria’s democracy will not be undermined if ADC or other parties fail to appear on election ballots, citing compliance with electoral laws
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Nigeria’s democracy will not be threatened if the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party fails to appear on the ballot in future elections.

The Lagos APC ADC ballot controversy position was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo.
The party was responding to complaints from a faction of the African Democratic Congress over alleged threats to its participation in upcoming elections.
The APC insisted that political participation is governed strictly by law and electoral procedures, not emotions or political pressure.
“Democracy is governed by laws and institutional procedures,” the statement said, stressing that compliance with electoral requirements remains compulsory for all parties.
The party also defended the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission, stating that the electoral body operates within constitutional limits and enforces compliance across all parties.
According to the APC, failure to meet stipulated requirements carries consequences, regardless of political status or influence.
The party referenced past electoral exclusions, including incidents involving parties in Zamfara and Rivers States during the 2019 general elections, as examples of legal enforcement in action.
It argued that such precedents show no political party is above the law and that electoral accountability applies universally.
The Lagos APC further accused the ADC of internal instability, describing the party as faction-ridden and poorly structured in its current form.
“It is disingenuous for a faction-ridden opposition party to externalise blame,” the statement added.
The party also urged political groups to resolve internal disputes and comply with electoral guidelines instead of making public allegations.

It reaffirmed its commitment to free, fair, and credible elections while calling on all stakeholders to strengthen confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
