Lagos Solidifies Status as Africa’s Creative Hub

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has declared the state Africa’s leading creative hub, attributing the status to sustained government support for cultural and entertainment sectors.

The party, through spokesman Seye Oladejo, said deliberate public investment in infrastructure, tourism, transportation, and security under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has empowered youth-driven innovation and boosted the state’s creative economy.

“Under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos has become the undisputed creative capital of Africa, where beats meet business and imagination meets infrastructure,” Oladejo said.

Highlighting the 2025 Detty December festival, Oladejo said the month-long series of parties, shows, and entertainment activities showcased the synergy between government initiatives and private-sector partnerships, generating thousands of jobs and fostering local enterprise growth.

“Lagos’ model of support for entertainment, fashion, nightlife, digital content, and hospitality has created a robust ecosystem attracting global attention,” he added, crediting the THEMES development agenda—linking entertainment, technology, tourism, and entrepreneurship—as central to the city’s success.

Oladejo praised entertainers, content creators, designers, producers, digital innovators, and young entrepreneurs, saying their creativity fuels the city’s growth. “Your creativity is the jet fuel. Lagos is the runway that ensures you take off,” he said.

Improved security, upgraded event facilities, and expanded transportation networks have also positioned Lagos as a preferred destination for major concerts and festivals, the spokesman noted.

Looking ahead, Oladejo assured that the APC-led administration would intensify investments in the creative sector in 2026, with expanded tourism infrastructure, enhanced security, and greater opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
