The directive was given on Thursday during a Ramadan Iftar programme organised by the state government at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Ibadan.
Makinde told political office holders that they have his approval to mount billboards and banners, provided that campaign materials carry the PDP logo.
“They now have my grace to mount their billboards and banners,” Makinde said. He emphasised that loyalty should be to the people of Oyo State, not to him personally.
Makinde clarified that political appointees were not required to resign from their positions while preparing for the elections.
He also highlighted the importance of a clear legal framework, raising concerns over reportedly multiple versions of Nigeria’s Electoral Act and the new tax legislation.
“To be honest, as the governor of Oyo State and one out of the 36 governors in Nigeria, I am not sure what they brought out as the Electoral Act. I have not seen it and I have not laid my hand on it,” he said.
He stressed the need for the official documents to be publicly available, noting that clarity is essential for political participation in 2027.
Makinde urged the authorities to release the authentic version of the Electoral Act to ensure all stakeholders are guided by the same legal framework.
He made similar calls regarding the new tax law, noting that reports of multiple versions have caused confusion.

“That is like the reference book for the election in 2027. They should let us know and come clean. Bring out the Electoral Act, the one assented to by the president, so that we can all work according to that Act,” he added.
