Malami Kebbi governorship bid pledges bold rescue plan

Malami Kebbi governorship bid focuses on security, agriculture revival, and public welfare as he joins ADC for 2027 election

Malami Kebbi governorship bid was formally announced by former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, who declared his intention to contest the 2027 election.

Speaking in an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday, Malami pledged to address insecurity and revive Kebbi State’s struggling agricultural economy.

The Malami Kebbi governorship announcement marks a strategic shift after he resigned from the All Progressives Congress and joined the African Democratic Congress in July. He explained that his move followed extensive consultations and reflection, motivated by love for the nation rather than personal ambition.

Malami criticised the ruling APC, accusing it of worsening insecurity in the North and undermining farmers, many of whom have been driven from their land.

He highlighted the collapse of rice mills and the failure of policies that favour foreign companies, describing the situation as a result of negligence and policy failure.

“My ambition is to salvage Kebbi State, restore security, rebuild agriculture, and protect residents’ welfare. This is not for personal gain but a rescue mission,” Malami said, confident in the support of his constituents once mobilisation is permitted under INEC guidelines.
