The Mustapha Kwankwaso NNPP to ADC move was confirmed in a statement released via his Facebook page, where he informed the public that his resignation from the NNPP was deliberate and carefully considered.
He stated that the decision represented the beginning of a new phase in his political journey.
In the statement, Mustapha Kwankwaso emphasised that his departure from the NNPP was not made lightly, describing it as a thoughtful step driven by his conviction about the direction he wishes to pursue in public service.
He added that he is currently in the process of formally aligning with the ADC.
He explained that his choice to join the African Democratic Congress stems from his belief that the party offers a viable platform for advancing governance reforms, economic development, and improved welfare for citizens, particularly in Kano State and across Nigeria.
Mustapha Kwankwaso further noted that the ADC’s vision and values align with his aspirations for meaningful political engagement, describing the move as one aimed at contributing to broader national progress.
His statement framed the transition as a proactive decision focused on long term objectives rather than short term political considerations.
The development adds to ongoing political realignments within Nigeria’s opposition landscape, where several figures have recently shifted affiliations ahead of future elections.
Analysts suggest that such movements may influence party dynamics and strategies as parties position themselves for greater relevance.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the NNPP regarding Mustapha Kwankwaso’s resignation.
However, the announcement has already generated reactions among political observers tracking shifts within Kano’s political structure.
