Alexander Ombugu, the state chairman, described the claims as false, misleading, and contrary to the party’s constitution.
Ombugu spoke during a press conference in Lafia, stressing that the party does not recognise any structure known as an interim management.
He added that individuals spreading the narrative were neither card-carrying members nor financially registered with the Labour Party.
“There is no provision for any interim management in the Labour Party constitution. It is strange and unfortunate that people who have no relationship with the party whatsoever are attempting to impose such an idea,” Ombugu said.
He explained that some politicians had used social media to falsely claim that an interim committee had been constituted to oversee the party’s affairs.
Ombugu maintained that the Labour Party’s structures remained intact nationwide, noting that congresses were recently conducted across the federation, including in Nasarawa State, where duly elected executives emerged for a four-year term.
The newly elected Nasarawa executives include Alexander Ombugu (Chairman), Bulus Sakks (Secretary), Esther Arishi (Treasurer), Isiaka Okpu (Financial Secretary), Ablaku Anthony (Public Relations Officer), Emmanuel Ayaka (Auditor) and Hanatu Giwa (Women Leader), among others.
Ombugu said the congresses were conducted through a consensus arrangement and fully approved by the national leadership and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“The Acting Head of the Department of Election and Political Party Monitoring, Mohammed Hamza, was present and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections,” he added.
Warning members and the public against engaging with individuals promoting the interim management narrative, Ombugu said, “They are not members of the Labour Party. Anyone who enters into dealings with them is acting contrary to the party’s constitution and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The chairman reaffirmed the state executives’ support for the National Chairman, Julius Abure, National Secretary Farooq Ibrahim Umar, and the National Working Committee, emphasising that there is no faction within the party.
He called on security agencies to remain vigilant and take appropriate action against those attempting to create confusion.
Ombugu encouraged aggrieved members with legitimate concerns to channel their grievances through the proper party leadership structures to ensure internal resolution and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The Labour Party is a family, and a family must remain united. Anyone operating outside the party’s constitution is clearly working against the party,” he concluded.
