Governor Umo Eno won the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service on Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment on Saturday.
The award, presented on behalf of President Bola Tinubu by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, recognised initiatives tied to the governor’s ARISE Agenda.
The honour comes only days after the International Press Institute Nigeria listed the governor in its book of infamy over alleged repression of journalists, a development that has stirred public debate.
Edidem said the latest award, however, affirms the governor’s commitment to strengthening communities, improving livelihoods and fostering inclusive governance.
Edidem, who represents Itu State Constituency, said the recognition underscored the impact of strategic policies in economic inclusion, youth empowerment, social welfare, infrastructure and community development.
He described the governor’s approach as a powerful model of people-centred leadership.
He said Governor Eno had shown remarkable dedication to raising living standards across the state, particularly through programmes designed to boost entrepreneurship and expand community-level opportunities.
