Speaking at the launch of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme in Abuja on Monday, Tinubu highlighted the federal government’s fresh drive to modernise agriculture, making it more attractive and rewarding for young Nigerians.
“We have over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 bulldozers, 12 mobile workshops, and more than 9,000 farming tools ready,” the president said.
“This will make farming easier, create jobs, and make it ‘sexier’ for our youths.”
He also announced that Nigeria is collaborating with countries like Belarus to provide young people with training in modern farming techniques, machine maintenance, and equipment manufacturing.
We will supervise and hold you accountable.
This, he said, will help them develop marketable skills and achieve financial independence.
In a firm message to programme beneficiaries, Tinubu declared, “We will supervise and hold you accountable,” urging responsible usage of the distributed machines.
The president commended the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for what he described as bold and effective actions aimed at stabilising the food system and addressing shortages that have plagued the country.
“Let history record today as the start of Nigeria’s farming rebirth,” Tinubu concluded, signalling the administration’s intent to make agriculture a pillar of national development and youth empowerment.

The new programme comes as part of a broader plan to reduce food import dependence, increase local production, and tackle unemployment through sustainable mechanised farming.
