Kano Spokesman Declares NNPP No Longer Formidable Ahead of 2027 Elections

Kano State Governor’s spokesman Sanusi Bature says NNPP is no longer a formidable political platform ahead of the 2027 elections

The spokesman of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature, has declared that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is no longer a strong political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sanusi Bature made the statement during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, where he discussed recent political alignments and internal developments within Kano’s political landscape.

He stated that key stakeholders within the Kwankwasiyya movement, including Governor Abba Yusuf, had moved away from the NNPP structure due to concerns about its political strength and future viability.

According to him, discussions among political actors led to a consensus that the NNPP lacked the capacity to remain competitive in the build-up to the 2027 elections, prompting a search for alternative political direction.

He further explained that while the ideology of the Kwankwasiyya movement remains influential in Kano State governance, the political platform itself was no longer considered effective for national electoral competition.

Bature also claimed that consultations were held with key figures, including Rabiu Kwankwaso, as part of broader strategic decisions aimed at repositioning ahead of the next election cycle.

The comments add to ongoing political realignments in Kano State as parties and blocs position themselves ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 election.
