Kano Governor’s Spokesman Dismisses Obi–Kwankwaso 2027 Alliance Plan

Kano State Governor’s spokesman Sanusi Bature rejects the proposed Obi–Kwankwaso presidential ticket, saying the alliance cannot work

The spokesperson to the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature, has dismissed the possibility of a presidential alliance between Labour Party’s Peter Obi and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Kwankwaso, describing the proposed arrangement as unworkable.

Sanusi Bature made the remarks during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, where he argued that the two political figures hold fundamentally different ideological positions.

He questioned the compatibility of both politicians, suggesting that their political beliefs and approaches to governance do not align enough to form a stable partnership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The spokesman further claimed that tensions in perception and political identity between both camps would make any joint ticket difficult to sustain in practice.

According to him, the proposed arrangement lacks the cohesion required to deliver effective leadership, insisting that it would not be acceptable within Kano political expectations.

The comments add to ongoing national debate over possible coalition alignments ahead of the next election cycle, as political actors continue consultations and strategic positioning across party lines.
